Taking inspiration from Robert Gjerdingen’s 2007 book *Music in the Galant Style*, I am compiling a list of what I call *voice-leading schemata*. These schemas are brief passages in [[Four-Part Voice Leading]] style that exhibit good voice-leading principles. Unlike Gjerdingjen's "stock musical phrases," these schemas are not based exclusively on real musical examples, but rather from practical experience in the undergraduate music theory classroom to assist students with part writing.[^1] (Some of these schemas might indeed be encountered in the literature; however, I do not claim to have done any historical research regarding these patterns. Their intent is purely pedagogical.)
