Anki is a flashcard app built on *spaced repetition*. Each time you review a card, you say how well you remembered it, and Anki schedules the next review accordingly: soon for cards you struggled with, further off for cards you knew. The result is that you spend your time on what you’re about to forget, not on what you already know. ## What it does - **Schedules every review.** You open Anki, do the cards that are due, and stop. A few minutes a day keeps a large collection fresh. - **Cards are yours to design.** Plain question-and-answer cards, cloze deletions (fill in the blank), typed answers, images and audio are all built in. - **Shared decks** exist for many subjects, though cards you write yourself are usually easier to remember. - **Syncs across devices** through a free AnkiWeb account. ## Cost The desktop app (Mac, Windows and Linux) and syncing are free, and Anki is open source. AnkiDroid, for Android, is free. AnkiMobile, for iPhone and iPad, is a one-time purchase whose sales support the project. Website: [apps.ankiweb.net](https://apps.ankiweb.net)
